Ulcers represent the heaviest social and economic burden among diabetes complications, being the reason of long follow-up in outpatient services, increased hospitalizations as well as drastic QOI lowering for patients affected. In memory of Aldo Bertani

Three years after the death of  Aldo Bertani, our Mentor, we like to take stock of the situation of this Academy.

We believe of catching the spirit of the plastic surgery of the future by focusing on tissue regeneration. In our youth we lived the heroic years of reconstructive microsurgery, which has allowed us to reach unthinkable goals such as the replanting of the limbs, the transplant tissue for saving limbs and finally the transplant tissue to reactivate the basic functions of relationship life, such as the use of the hand, walking, smile. Even today the idea of microsurgery in plastic surgery, or make your own body as a tissue bank to restore the shape and function of the diseased part is a winning idea, but it is equally true that it do not solve all the reconstructive issues of our discipline.
