The Centre for Research and Training in Regenerative Surgery <\/strong>–\u00a0Lipofilling Academy, was the brainchild Prof. Luca Vaienti, Dr. Michele Riccio, and Prof. Piercamillo Parodi, in turn inspired by their mentors, Prof. Alberto Azzolini and Prof. Aldo Bertani \u2013 both world-renowned luminaries in the field. The idea was to provide a timely scientific and educational hub for related information, updates and ideas for new research projects (preferably multicentric), in particular through the publication of the Centre\u2019s journal, website and blog.<\/p>\n

In recent decades, reconstructive surgery has evolved through separate but interdependent conceptual phases, each characterized by innovative experimental and clinical approaches, and often aided by advances in technology, like microsurgery, tissue expansion and tissue engineering.<\/p>\n

Regenerative surgery in particular has benefitted from this interaction between innovative ideas and technological progress. Nowadays this discipline is an all but indispensible partner to all medical fields.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the various reconstructive methods developed and refined over preceding decades, combined with the wide variety of autologous, heterologous, natural and synthetic solutions available, can be used to stimulate and promote repair processes in the tissues, yielding results of a particularly high quality, even superior to the outcomes normal healing and cicatrization (scarring) processes.<\/p>\n

Indeed, regenerative medicine is able to promote real tissue regeneration, not merely its repair, by harnessing and guiding the \u2018natural\u2019 healing process, while sparing as much as possible the surrounding healthy tissue.<\/p>\n

The founders of the Academy are committed to continuing the great works of their forefathers and pioneers in plastic surgery, with a passion for regenerative medicine and innovation in equal measure.<\/p>\n
